Project of consolidation of integrated social services
Balti Municipal Council approved on Thursday, June 24, the Cooperation
Memorandum between UNICEF, Balti Mayoralty, Criminal Reform Institute
and SOMATO Association of Balti. Due to this memorandum, these institutions will implement a project
lasting 15 months. The financial support of about 800 thousand MDL will
be provided by UNICEF (UN Agency for Children).
The project provides funds for Balti Mayoralty, that will create a
resource center for underprivileged families and children. The
authorities will assume the responsibility to make exchange of
experience between local social assistants and other communities.
SOMATO Association will carry out a number of activities within the project. They will be based on development of some methodological and promotional materials. The association will train social assistants and all deputy directors of schools from Balti.
The Criminal Reform Institute will organize activities related to the consolidation of capacities of community based centers for children and will develop programs of preventing juvenile delinquency and reintegration of delinquent children.
The consolidation of the local reference system to insure early identification of underprivileged children and their access to all necessary services is the main goal of the project. The activities of the project will focus on improvement of communication and cooperation among sectors, to prevent “loss” of underprivileged children and teenagers.
