
„Danko” Centre opened in Balti
On Tuesday, the Centre for severe disabled-children and young people „Danko” has been officially inaugurated.
Numerous guests participated in the official opening of the Centre „Danko”, including representatives of local authorities, of some nongovernmental organizations working in the social field, the parents of the beneficiaries of the centre.
The Centre „Danko” is the eighth social institution in Balti of a network of social centres opened a few years ago.
The event is a part of the activities held in time of the “Mental Health Week”, that is organized in the period between 5 and 10 October, in Republic of Moldova.
The director of the centre, Corina Popa, says that the new institution aims at improving disabled children’s life by means of medical psycho-social rehabilitation and social inclusion. “In this place, beneficiaries will find support, understanding, love and spiritual warmth”, Corina Popa mentioned at the opening of the Centre „Danko”.
20 persons aged 10 to 30 years old and their families are beneficiaries of the “Danko” Centre services. One of the main goals of the Centre is preventing institutionalization of mentally-disabled children.
The Centre „Danko” provides services from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., five days a week. The beneficiaries are involved in different activities on the basis of three programs.
To provide psycho-professional consultation, there is a good team of psychologists, psycho-therapy doctor, and other doctors working at the Centre „Danko”. Different activities will be organized using game therapy, as well as excursions outside the locality.
The Centre „Danko” was opened with the support of SOMATO Association and the financial support of the Governments of Sweden and Republic of Moldova, with the technical support of the Social Investment Fund of Moldova.
