“Come with me, school is for you too” – Campaign
An awareness-raising campaign to promote educational inclusion “come with us, school is for you too!” was launched to support National Program for Inclusive Education for 2011-2020, approved by the Government two years ago. The campaign aims to promote the benefits of educational inclusion, as well as to sensitize public opinion with the regards to children’s right to have equal chances for education. UNICEF Moldova and Ministry of Education suggest that the message of the campaign promoting inclusive education should reach every school from the country. During the campaign there will be broadcasted video and audio materials, there will be distributed posters, organized workshops and group discussions to promote dialogue on local and national levels with the regards to importance and advantages of inclusion and creation of favorable environment in schools.
According to the Program for development of inclusive education, all children, regardless their family’s financial situation, place of residence, ethnicity, language, sex, age, religion, health state, learning characteristics, previous convictions, have right for equal conditions for quality education.
In Republic of Moldova there are more than 16 thousand children with disabilities, according to national statics, of which about 3500 are under seven years old. Number of children with various degrees of physical and mental disability (disabled) under 16 years old increased from 12.2 thousand in 1995 to 12.5 thousand in 2008.
